This Literacy Project: 

Nine sorors of Alpha Alpha Chapter in Kansas City, MO of The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. read books to students at Wendell Phillips Elementary School.  Soror Takeisha Brown is the Principal.  We read and had a book discussion with students grades K-3.  This literacy activity launched a day of Reading Across NSPDK to observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.  Student signatures will be collected.  Students received a pencil and bookmark from Alpha Alpha Chapter and we will reward students who will read for one hour on Dr. King's observed birthday with a treat.  Our chapter also donated a basket of books for the teachers in grades K-3 to share.  Next year we plan to add on grades 4-6.
